– here is a good summary of all the myriad of airline stakes Ethiopian Airlines has accumulated, Chad is the newest one the airline is bidding for

– there is so little competition and such strong demand from Australia’s and New Zealand’s economy that Qantas and Air New Zealand report record profits

Qantas may soon get their wish and get planes that fly direct from Melbourne and Sydney to London and New York, a massive distance of over 10,500 miles, a full three hours longer than the current longest flight

– the new SPG Luxury card is out and comes with 125,000 Marriott points sign up bonus (targeted, check your emails) or a 100,000 public offer

It comes with a $450 annual fee (offset by a $300 statement credit for any hotel purchases) and an annual free night.

The exclusion list for the welcome offer is rather long:

Effective 8/26, welcome offer not available to applicants who (i) have or have had The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Credit Card in the last 30 days, (ii) have acquired The Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card, The Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card or The Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card in the last 90 days, or (iii) received a welcome or upgrade offer for The Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card, The Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card or The Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card in the last 24 months.

– Manila airport is charging Xiamen Airlines for their crash landing – amazingly the airline is not refuting the charges and so far is ready to take the blame
