Instagram is a great little app that allows you to post pictures directly from your mobile device. After posting more than 4,000 travel pictures I have decided to stop posting. I know a sad day for the Internet 🙂
Instagram was a great tool when I started out and it delivered a lot of instant gratification. Back in Shanghai in 2013 I had my Instagram followers take me all around Shanghais hidden secrets by writing comments in Mandarin on my posts. I would show the next destination to my taxi driver and bridge the communication issues (that was before Uber!). I was able to see so much of this city in a day with this great virtual tour.
However my work has changed and I keep posting more in-depth posts than before (i.e. My things to do articles). This takes time and I keep processing my images with my own set of post processing filters now.
I also feel the Instagram excitement abates quickly and the spill over to your website is very little. There is nothing wrong with that – I just decided it’s not worth it for me anymore.
