Trip Index (what we have published so far):
After my rather disappointing flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, I was eager to see The Wing – Cathay Pacific’s First Class Lounge. Until now, I had only been to the business class lounge in the same location – The Wing Business Class Lounge.
The Wing First Class Lounge has just been renovated and I had 45 minutes before boarding would begin. Thankfully boarding would be from right outside the lounge and not at the opposite end of the terminal like with my flight with Cathay Pacific in business class to Kuala Lumpur last year.
I expected entrance into the first class lounge to be fairly strict, since it is usually manned by a number of lounge attendants.
Believe it or not, I just walked up the stairs, went right to follow the signs for the first class section and sat down in the dining hall. NOBODY checked nor was interested in my boarding pass! I walked slowly with my passport and boarding pass in hand. Talk about a ‘walk of confidence’!
The waiter at the dining hall asked what drinks I’d like to order and I was ready to hit the buffet at 11.30PM local time.
The buffet food was outstanding with lots of Chinese and western options. I’m not really a fan of Chinese cuisine usually, but was really happy with the options provided.
I contemplated taking a shower, but ran out of time. The bathrooms looked very stylish, though, and are kept in dark colors.
The seating area in the first class section looks exactly the same as in the business class section. The bar seems very similar too. So this place is all about the food, which was excellent.
Boarding time approached so I walked down to the gate which was literally right outside the exit…
