Ariana Afghan Airlines has issued a request for proposals to wet lease a widebody aircraft, including A330s, A340s, B767s, and B777s, with a seating capacity of 300 to 500 passengers, to cater to the increased demand for Hajj travel this summer.

SpiceJet, an Indian budget carrier, has also leased two Airbus A340 planes to support the seasonal demand for Hajj travel from India, operating flights from five cities.

According to the ministry, the number of Afghans expected to attend Hajj this year has increased by 6,000 compared to last year, reaching a total of 30,000 pilgrims.

The wet-leased A340 aircraft operated by Ariana Afghan Airlines will fly from Kabul to Jeddah International, Madrid Barajas, Riyadh, Istanbul, Ankara Esenboga, and Moscow Sheremetyevo to transport the Hajj pilgrims.

To perform Hajj in 2024, Saudi Arabia has announced updated conditions, including mandatory registration in the Sehaty app to confirm necessary vaccinations and obtaining a Hajj permit through the Nusk platform, which is crucial for the legitimacy of the pilgrimage.
