On January 30, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a public health emergency of international concern. With the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak countries all over the world are taking precautions in order to minimize the risk. Today the World Health Organization declared a pandemic. Following the news India has suspended all tourist visas and e-visas. Also, Thailand canceled granting of Visa on Arrival for 18 countries and visa exemption for three other countries to contain the spread of the virus.

India Suspends Most Visas
The Indian government announced in a press release today that India will suspend all tourist visas to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country. This will come in effect on March 13, 2020, until April 15, 2020. Any foreign national intending to travel to India for a compelling reason could contact the nearest Indian mission according to the press release.
From the press release:
“All existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/International Organizations, employment, project visas, stand suspended till 15th April 2020. Visa-free travel facility granted to OCI [Overseas Citizen of India] cardholders is kept in abeyance till April 15, 2020.”
Thailand Cancels Visa on Arrival
Thailand on Wednesday, 11 March 2020 canceled granting of Visa on Arrival for 18 countries and visa exemption for three other countries to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Previously, nationals of 18 countries could use their passports or travel documents to apply for Visa on Arrival at immigration checkpoints. The 18 places include Bulgaria, Bhutan, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Vanuatu, and China which includes Taiwan. The 3 countries that Visa exemption will be canceled for are South Korea, Italy and Hong Kong.
Kuwait Will Suspend All Flights
Kuwait will be suspending all commercial flights to and from Kuwait International Airport from Friday until further notice. The suspension will exclude cargo flights. The government also announced that they will be closing academic institutions for two weeks and that they would suspend all sporting events.
