New Southwest card initial bonus offer

Chase just launched a new initial bonus offer for the Southwest credit cards. The three personal cards were offering 40,000 points, but starting today, it has increased to a 60,000 point bonus. The business cards have stayed the same as they allow you to earn between 60,000 and 80,000 points depending on the card you apply for. The real benefit of this is that these increased offers will put you one step closer to the Southwest Companion Pass. The Southwest Companion Pass allows another passenger to fly with you for free and an unlimited number of times for the length of the pass.

What is the Southwest Companion Pass?

Southwest Companion Pass allows a friend or family member to fly with you for almost free on every single flight you take for over a year! With the companion pass, as long as there is a seat available you can book your companion. No route restrictions, no date restrictions, no capacity restrictions. Additionally, even if the first passenger uses points for a free flight, you can still add the companion. The only things you pay are the taxes and fees, which is the same amount if you were to use points. The pass expires the year after it is earned on December 31st. So if you were to earn the pass today, it would expire December 31, 2020. However, if you earn the pass On Jan. 1 of 2020, that pass will not expire until Dec. 31, 2021. That can give you two years with the pass.
