Spirit Airlines is one of the most popular ultra-low-cost carriers but with its low prices can come some very high baggage fees that cut into your savings. If you’re traveling with Spirit Airlines on an upcoming flight, find out everything you need to know about Spirit Airlines Baggage Fees.

Spirit Airlines Baggage Fees for Carry-On

Spirit Airlines passengers are charged for both carry-on and checked bags. This is so that the airline can keep their ticket prices low. However, one personal item that fits entirely in the smaller sizer box like a purse or a backpack, is included with your ticket. Anything larger, such as a standard carry-on bag or checked bag will need to be paid for.
Carry-on should stay within the following size and weight restrictions:

  • 50 linear inches (22 x 18 x 10 in) or 127 centimeters (56 x 46 x 25 cm) including handles and wheels
  • Fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

The fee for bringing a larger item onboard might cost you differently when the allowance is purchased. If purchased online during the flight booking process, the fee is typical $37. If, however, the allowance is purchased during online check-in, the fee increases to $45 as standard, it then increases to $55 at the airport or $65 at the gate.

Spirit Airlines Baggage Fees for Checked Baggage

Spirit Airlines passengers are not entitled to any free checked baggage allowance. Again, this is so that the airline can keep their ticket prices low for everyone. Checked baggage should be the max weight of 40lbs max linear dimensions of 62 inches.
