The Chase Sapphire Preferred is a veteran of the “rewards industry”. A little bit by accident the card has manged to build a stable following.

World of Hyatt Transfers – Two nights at a luxurious Hyatt property

In the past I felt the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa was one of the best redemptions. However prices in the Maldives have come down and now the US – especially Hawaii – has some of the most expensive hotel properties.

The Andaz Maui and the Hyatt Residence Club Maui, Kāʻanapali Beach are now topping the list of where I would use 60,000 points for two nights.

There are more Category 6 Hyatt properties.

United Mileage Plus Transfers – Singapore Airlines/Air New Zealand Business Class Southeast Asia to Tahiti

This works best if you already have a flight to Southeast Asia and want to make the return over the Pacific a bit more ‘creative’. Transfer 45,000 points to United MileagePlus and you can fly on Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand from anywhere in Southeast Asia to Tahiti one-way in Business Class. united.com will not show Singapore Airlines flights, but most flights are bookable when you call, so call United reservations directly. Note that Air New Zealand availability is very limited but it does exist.

in 2017 I went to French Polynesia and loved Bora Bora Island and the InterContinental Le Moana.

70,000 United Mileage Plus miles are enough to get you to from anywhere in the US to Europe in Business Class. This stretches as far as Siberia in fact. Turkish Airlines is a great airline for a luxurious redemption on their many flights to Europe via Istanbul.

Marriott Bonvoy Transfers

The launch of Bonvoy has cut down many of the best redemptions under 10,000 points with Marriott. However many Protea hotels in  Southern Africa are still a great deal.  I would also include the Renaissance Hotel Minsk in this category for exceptional value.

How to get approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred?

Chase has gotten rather picky with approvals and has introduced a number of rules.

You can only have one Chase Sapphire Preferred card per person at one time.

You can not have received a bonus within the last 48 months for this card.

You can NOT have opened more than 5 credit cards in the last 24 months with ANY credit card issuer. However in reality Chase may only see a fraction of the cards opened with other issuers.
