Qatar appeases US airlines, Virgin now uses airberlin A330s, Citi 50,000 AA card, how much did Niki Lauda really pay?, easyjet on a roll in Berlin

– Qatar has successfully appeased the major US Airlines consortium

All they had to do was to promise to have audited statements in a few years from now. The Qatari owners seem to be contend with wrapping up investments over the next two years anyways and will require the airline to make money. Qatar is also the most politically squeezed airline so I’d call this a win for Qatar then teh US airlines. Let’s see if they can get Emirates to budge (I can NOT see that).

Virgin Atlantic has leased the Air Berlin A330 which aren’t my favorite at all and hey are selling it as couple suites!

My gosh Virgin has the world’s best marketing people in the industry. Period.

– Citibank is back with a 50,000 bonus and $100 statement credit for AA purchases for their AAdvantage Platinum cards

This is a great offer – but you can only get the bonus if you haven’t had a similar card in the last 24 months.

Statement credit and American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have had any Citi® / AAdvantage® card (other than a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card) opened or closed in the past 24 months.

– so it turns out Niki Lauda paid almost $60 million for NIKI – I feel he overpaid quite a bit but we shall see for how much he flips it for in a few years
