Europe to Cape Town for $1,200 in Business, Sri Lankan Business Class Jakarta to Bahrain under $1,000, Addis Abeba to Djibouti railway link to open, Nairobi to Mombasa trains now running, RwandAir opens base in Benin
– Kenya Airways has flights from London and Amsterdam in Business Class to Cape Town starting at $1,200 for the Round trip
– Sri Lankan has great fares from Jakarta to Bahrain for $916 Round Trip earning 13,000 miles and or 560 British Airways Executive Club Tier Points
I’d love to try it and see Djibouti, another safe country along the ‘not-so-safe’ horn of Africa.
Both Uganda and Tanzania have similar ambitions with their own domestic railway projects that eventually should link teh countries all together.
While Mombasa is really dangerous I may try it again with an armored escort.
– RwandAir is de-facto running the national airline of Benin now – opening up a second base right next to Nigeria which has seen almost all their airlines go bankrupt in the latest recession including the regional, former champion Arik Air
Uganda is still courting Qatar airways to open up a base at Entebbe airport – with all that spare capacity it may actually work if Uganda commits to a low fee, more modern airport.
