JetBlue and Alaska Airlines’ loyalty programs are both currently offering limited-time bonuses when you gift or buy miles or points – and you can earn up to 75% more.
With JetBlue TrueBlue, you can now earn up to 75% more points, but the offer expires fairly soon, as you need to purchase or gift your points through April 28th, 2017. The tiered structure lets you earn a bonus of between 25% and 75%:
- Get a bonus of 25% when you purchase between 3,000 and 9,500 points
- Earn a bonus of 50% when you purchase between 10,000 and 29,500 points
- Get a bonus of 75% when you purchase 30,000 points
If you buy the maximum 30,000 TrueBlue points with this offer, you’ll receive a total of 52,500 points for $886.88 including tax, so costing 1.69 cents each.
Mileage Plan members can earn a 40% bonus through May 3rd, 2017, but as the offer is limited to just the first 2,500 members, you may want to get your skates on!
When you purchase 10,000 Mileage Plan you’ll receive a bonus of 4,000 miles and you can do so up to 5 times with this promotion. If you buy 50,000 miles, you’ll receive a total of 70,000 miles at a cost of $1,478.15 including tax (that’s 2.11 cents each).
How do I get the deals where I earn bonus points or miles?
You can buy or gift JetBlue TrueBlue points by April 28th through your account here.
Purchase or gift Mileage Plan miles by logging into your account here through May 3rd.
Is it worth it to buy or gift points or miles with these deals?
JetBlue members needing a specific amount of points for an award can make use of the TrueBlue promotion, but otherwise, it may make sense to wait for a higher bonus to be offered. We’ve seen offers in the past where points cost less than 1.69 cents each.
With regards buying these Mileage Plan points for the bonus, it can make sense to buy them to use on particular awards with partners such as Cathay Pacific, or for topping off an award.
It’s quite often the case that it’s only really worth buying or gifting points only when they are needed, rather than buying speculatively.
