WOW – British Airways Avios eStore double miles – earn 82,200 miles for $548.57

The British Airways Avios eStore used to be my preferred source of earning miles online. Earn rates were high, tracking excellent and there was always a responsive support to talk to. Lately the earn rates have been lower but the British Airways Avios eStore has improved earn rates lately and is now running a double miles promotion.

The promotions runs until midnight March 5th UK time.

Make sure to select the US shopping portal as it often defaults to the UK site. I do believe that you can use the US Shopping Portal even if you end up paying with a non-US credit card at the merchant.

There are a bunch of great deals to be had.

eBags is offering 24 Avios per $1. The TravelPro bags they sell are fantastic and have improved my travel life.

Check your American Express account before purchasing – many are offered a $15 statement credit for purchases $75+ as a statement credit.

Also try coupon code EXTRA for an additional 25% off, though this CAN invalidate the Avios earning.

MightyTravels 2017-03-02 at 10.13.06 AMA Bloomberg Subscription earns 50 Avios per Dollar.

MightyTravels 2017-03-02 at 9.56.12 AMThe most impressive deals however comes with match.com (150 Avios per Dollar) and eharmony.com (130 Avios per Dollar). Bo are targeting just new customers (I guess it is targeting existing accounts, not credit cards).

In order to get the most expensive match.com packet – get just the Basic Account and then add all the additional account options on the next screen.

How to redeem 82,200 Avios

This is enough for 3 Round Trips from the West Coast to Hawaii (albeit availability in Alaska has been non-existent for many months now).

However there are some other good redemptions left – it is just 10,000 Avios from Hong Kong to Japan (20,000 in Cathay Pacific’s excellent Business Class).

Even better are the West Coast to Japan flights on American or Japan Airlines for 25,000 in Economy. Japan Airlines has just minimal fuel surcharges and the 777 on the route from San Francisco to Haneda was one of my best (though somewhat scary) Economy flying experiences ever.
