What are Hilton Friends and Family Rates?

With the Go Hilton Team Member program, Hilton Hotels & Resorts offers its employees discounted rooms for non-business leisure travel at properties around the world. In addition, the Go Hilton Family & Friends Travel program benefits those employees’ friends and relatives with cheaper rates, too, though they have to first be pre-approved online by the employee.

In order to set up and access the discounts and approve family and friends, a Hilton employee needs a Lobby User ID and a Team Member HHonors account (or an applicable Owners HHonors account). Friends and family members just need regular Hilton HHonors accounts; if you don’t yet have one, sign up here for free and then give the employee your name and HHonors number exactly as it appears on your account so that they can approve you.

Once you’re approved, you can book the Family & Friends rate yourself simply by logging in here on the Go Hilton homepage by using your usual HHonors sign-in details. This is handy as it means you can then manage your own reservations instead of having to rely on the employee to book for you or have to deal with any issues such as changes or cancellations.

When checking in for reservations made on Go Hilton, approved friends and family members need to present photo ID and you no longer need an authorization form such as the old paper passport.

How much can I save with Hilton Friends and Family Rates?

The Family & Friends rate is 50% off the Best Available Rate. While not quite as cheap as the excellent Team Member rates (which include Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and Curio properties for just $55 per night!) this is a great deal and is valid for up to 30 room nights per calendar year per approved family member or friend.

You’ll still earn points for these stays, for the room rate and incidentals (except for incidentals at Hampton, Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites) and you can also benefit from a 50% discount globally on many Hilton restaurant food and drink purchases, though check the terms beforehand:

What else do I need to know about Hilton Friends and Family Rates?

While using the Go Hilton Friends & Family rate is likely to always save you money on your hotel booking, it’s more than clear that you really need to know a Hilton employee in order to access it. While some hotel companies simply issue a generic code for friends and family to use (which is open to abuse), Hilton has been very savvy in ensuring procedure is followed from the start when it comes to this employee benefit.
