If you are like me you have been using an RSS reader, than Feedburner than and RSS app like Feedly. The trouble with most is that the amount of information gets overwhelming and I tend to not open the app anymore.
I also feel it’s hard to sync them in a quick way across several device as I work on my MacBook, my iPhone or a random Desktop sometimes.
With the onset of Gmail’s 15GB free storage and the powerful search I have started to pay for extra Gmail storage and use it across all my devices. In fact I have now transformed almost all the news source I follow into an email newsletter that is being sent out after every post.
The service that helps me do that is called IFTTT. The San Francisco startup enables you to set up any kind of rules – ‘IF THIS THEN THAT’ is the claim to fame. This works with any kind of trigger.
I initially found the service to post the full Instagram picture to Twitter (though now I have stopped posting on Instagram).
Here is how you can set up your IFTTT account to send you an email whenever we publish a new entry.
1) Sign Up for a new IFTTT account
Go here and sign up for a new (free) account.
Once done find the ‘Create Recipe’ button.
2) Create a Recipe
Now select RSS or Feed from the list and use our feed URL which is https://www.mightytravels.com/feed/
Now choose a trigger – I use new post all the time. I find other triggers to be less reliable.
3) Choose an Action
We want an email sent out after each new post that shows up in our feed so search for email.
Now just leave everything as default and click through to the end of that process.
4) Confirm the new recipe
Confirm the new recipe and you should see the first emails arrive as soon as we publish a new post.
