Qatar JLo

– Qatar is planning a proper welcome for it’s A380 welcome service to Atlanta with Jennifer Lopez

Qatar Airlines expects a full 16 passengers a day going from Atlanta to Doha (!) while Delta says the number is more like five passengers. This does not account for connecting passengers which is likely much higher but still a gamble for Qatar to fly into Skyteam’s biggest hub.

Qatar should rather think about a San Francisco service – lots of traffic from the airport to the Middle East and India and while Turkish and Etihad finally added service (besides Emirates) it is still a high-margin market

– a Lufthansa A330 blocked the runway at Mumbai airport for almost 24 hours after several tires blew out during landing. The stranded airbus blocked any A380 service from other airlines as well as the United Newark flight. Now will Lufthansa have to pay?

Air Algerie is offering 2,000 miles when signing up to their frequent flyer program Air Algerie Plus – the airline does not have a reciprocal agreement with other frequent flyer programs yet
