The Chase Ink Plus Business Card is the business card I have myself for several years now. The benefit I use the most is the 5x on all office supply stores, Utilities and Telecommunication spend. This 5x bonus runs every day of the year and is capped at 250,000 Ultimate Rewards points earned (for $50,000 spend).

The Chase Ink Plus credit card also comes with no foreign transaction fees which is something you won;t see at most American Express Business cards (bar the Platinum card).

When you sign up for a new card you will receive 50,000 Ultimate Rewards bonus points after $5,000 in spend. An awesome way to reach that spend is to buy Amazon gift cards from Office Depot. These are dubbed ‘Kindle Gift Cards’ but can be used for anything Amazon sells. If you spend $5,000 a year at Amazon – I do!) this is an easy way to go through the minimum spend.

So let’s assume you do that and come out with 75,000 points (after $5,000 in spend x 5) – what can you do with that?

Transfer to Hyatt Gold Passport

Hyatt has a number of very luxurious properties. With 75,000 points you have nearly enough for 4 nights in a Category 5 property and enough for 4 nights in a Category 4 property.

While going to Turkey can be a bit problematic if you have Global Entry, it is a great city and the Park Hyatt Istanbul (Category 5) an outstanding property.

Istanbul is one of those places where you never run out of Things to do (Istanbul).

First/ Business Class ticket on Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer to Asia (One-Way)

Singapore Airlines has a fantastic first class product on their A380 and a great one on their 777ER aircraft. The A380 flies from New York to Frankfurt and from Los Angeles to Tokyo.

From San Francisco, the airline can get you to Hong Kong and Seoul. These flights will cost you just 70,125 points plus about $200 in fuel surcharges.

I recently flew the Singapore Airlines A380 in Suites Class (First Class) from Japan to Los Angeles and loved it.

Singapore Airlines also flies from Sao Paulo to Barcelona. 75,000 Krisflyer miles will be good for almost two tickets when booked online and no fuel surcharges.

Other good uses of Ultimate Rewards points

Since you can transfer to so many transfer partners with Ultimate Rewards, there are a number of good uses:

– short haul flights on any Oneworld partner airline using BA Avios e.g. Tokyo to Nagasaki

– high-priced but low points redemptions using Marriott Rewards – for instance in Jakarta, Doha or Bahrain

– Short flights on Southwest i.e. Los Angeles to San Francisco for just ~3,000 one-way
