Do you remember the Fast Track for American Airlines Elite Status we ran last week? Well it turns out that link actually worked!
I just got an email with the confirmation of the challenge for me – I have to come up with 25,000 Elite Status Qualifying Points until December 23rd 2015.
Status with American is still rather straightforward (unlike Delta or United).
Flights earn based on their fare class from 0.5 to 1.5 EQP per mile flown. Redeemable miles are not affected (they may or may not align). Cheap fares get at 0.5 multiplier and expensive fare classes a 1.5 factor.
I stumbled upon these fares from Honolulu to Barranquilla last week and while they are not available in both direction in Business anymore (only the return leg still is) – you can still earn about 12,000 EQP for two Round Trips paying $530 per trip.
The status, if earned, would be valid until February 2017. So this is VERY tempting! The benefits are clear – 8 upgrade vouchers from any fare class (given availability) and generous mileage earning bonuses together with First Class lounge access when on a Oneworld ticket.
