Hilton HHonors hotels – New hotels and property changes Q2 2015

Hilton property changes

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Qingdao-Chengyang

What’s the scoop with Hilton HHonors hotels?

Earlier this month, Hilton’s latest hotel category changes were administrated. Just a tiny fraction of Hilton’s 4000+ properties worldwide had changes enforced – only 14 properties moved up in category, while 10 properties moved down.

One of the properties, the stunning DoubleTree by Hilton Qingdao/Chengyang, moved all the way down from Category 6 to Category 3, meaning it’s now only 20,000 points per night rather than between 30,000 and 50,000. With its own driving range, four restaurants and lounges, five event rooms and even a Grand Ballroom, the DoubleTree by Hilton Qingdao/Chengyang is now a much more attractive points booking option when you’re in this part of China.

In addition to publishing the hotel category changes, Hilton now also publishes a list of new redemption hotels that have been added to their portfolio. The list currently shows new properties that were opened by March 17th 2015, including Hilton at Resorts World Bimini in the Bahamas, which is a Category 8:

In the US, Hilton opened 36 properties between December 29th 2014 and March 16th 2015. This included the gorgeous Category 9 Hilton Garden Inn Palo Alto Silicon Valley, which is just 3 miles from Stanford University in downtown Palo Alto:

What Hilton doesn’t show us in the list of new redemption hotels is their future properties, but FlyerTalk have a great guide that is updated by members whenever they see an upcoming Hilton or notice that a property is leaving the Hilton brand. The Hilton properties joining/leaving the Hilton chain Wiki is an excellent resource, as members recently posted that these properties are leaving Hilton in 2015:

  • Hampton Inn, Griffins, Georgia
  • Hilton Montreal Bonaventure, Canada
  • Hilton Papagayo Resort, Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica

Members also recently posted about many future/rebranded Hiltons worldwide, including these properties in the US:
