What's the scoop?
Delta SkyMiles members on domestic and Puerto Rico flights are to be rewarded with bonus miles if their checked bags don't arrive at the carousel in 20 minutes or less between now and March 31st 2015.
This short-term solution that gives passengers 2,500 bonus SkyMiles for every flight it happens on is similar to the one Alaska Airlines has offered permanently for a while now. After Delta announced this temporary promotion, Alaska Airlines boldly tweeted this:
How do I get the bonus SkyMiles?
If your bag doesn't appear on the carousel within 20 minutes, complete this form within three days of your Delta domestic flight's arrival.
Now here's the bad news – The offer is only valid on paid tickets for published fares, so if you've booked with miles or points, it doesn't apply 🙁
What else do I need to know?
It is still unclear how the 20 minutes will be measured – is it from the plane arriving at the gate? We'll update this post when Delta confirms.
You need to be a SkyMiles member at the time of travel to be eligible. Not yet a member? Enroll here.
Each passenger can receive 2,500 bonus SkyMiles per outbound or return travel regardless of the number of checked bags they have.
You must request each flight separately and all claims must be submitted by April 3rd 2015.
Allow up to two weeks for your bonus miles to appear in your account.
