The end of Cyprus Airways

Posted on January 12, 2015 by in Uncategorized

After more than 67 years of being the flag-carrier airline of its country, Cyprus Airways has sadly lost its operating license and ceased operations on January 9th, 2015.

The airline regularly flew from its operating base at Larnaca to fourteen destinations in Europe and the Middle East.

The airline has struggled for years and repeatedly received state aid since 2007, totaling €103m. Cyprus Airways still needs to repay over €65m.

Since Saturday, alternative arrangements or reimbursements are being made for those who had tickets booked to fly with Cyprus Airways.

Top Kinisis Travel is handling the arrangements, so if you have a Cyprus Airways flight coming up, the website tells international passengers to call +35722869999 as soon as possible.

RIP Cyprus Airways.
