US Bank has several travel rewards credit cards in its portfolio. One of the first things you need to look at when choosing the right card is the sign-up bonus, before then checking out the ongoing rewards. Whether you then select your card for ease of manufactured spending or because the travel benefits are worth it, US Bank has expanded over the years to include some excellent products that may well be right for your needs.
If you've already got a Chase, Citi and American Express and you're thinking of applying for a US Bank card now, we look at some of the better ones for you to choose from when it comes to travel rewards.
Now we already know that Visa cards come loaded with useful benefits such as fraud protection and account assistance, but several usbank cards are labelled 'Visa Signature' and these give you a truckload more rewards than usual. With travel in mind, these benefits include:
– Auto rental collision damage waiver
– Lost luggage reimbursement
– Roadside dispatch
– Travel accident insurance
– Travel and emergency assistance services
– Concierge service 24/7
– Luxury hotel extras including room upgrade and free breakfast
– Discounted rates on hotel reservations, car rentals and cruises
All of the benefits of Visa Signature cards are listed here, including those non-travel-related. If you're looking for a usbank card, we recommend it's one with the Visa Signature logo!
The 13 current usbank travel rewards credit cards are listed on their website:
Our favorite US Bank travel rewards credit cards all come with the Visa Signature logo:
– The U.S. Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature card
– The AeroMexico Visa Signature card
– Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa Signature card
– LANPASS Visa Signature card
– LifeMiles Visa Signature card
– SKYPASS Visa Signature card
We have reviewed or at least introduced each of these usbank cards here on MightyTravels in the past. Here's the basics of each card.
We introduced the U.S. Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa Signature card here and reviewed it here. The card has a sign-up bonus of 20,000 FlexPoints which has a ticket value up to $400. We like that you get a $25 airline expenses allowance with each award ticket and that the annual fee is waived for the first year.
We wrote about the AeroMexico Visa Signature card here. The card has a sign-up bonus of 20,000 bonus miles, but this isn't even enough for a round-trip within Mexico unfortunately. However, you get double miles on gas and groceries, so it's a good card for seasoned manufactured spenders. The companion ticket is a plus and the annual fee is waived for the first year.
We introduced the Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa Signature card here. The card has a sign-up bonus of 85,000 Gold points, gives you automatic Gold elite status with Club Carlson and you can earn free award nights at hotels. The annual fee is waived for the first year.
We wrote about the LANPASS Visa Signature card in a round of applications, in a post about the sign-up bonus and when the sign-up bonus was higher. The card currently has a sign-up bonus of 20,000 miles, but it has been 30,000 in the past. We really like that you get double miles on LAN ticket purchases and 20% off LAN purchases (up to $1000 pa), plus the annual fee is waived for the first year.
We introduced the LifeMiles Visa Signature card here. The card has a sign-up bonus of 20,000 LifeMiles (although earlier this year the bonus was 40,000). There's no minimum spend to get the sign-up miles, which is always an advantage, and the annual fee is waived for the first year. LifeMiles currently has a good award chart but it is due to change October 15th – check here after this date.
We introduced the SKYPASS Visa Signature card here and wrote more about it here. The card has a sign-up bonus of 15,000 SKYPASS miles (it has been 30,000 in the past). There's no minimum spend to get the bonus miles – you get them after your first purchase. However, this is the only usbank travel rewards Visa Signature credit card to not waive the annual fee of $80.
Whichever usbank credit card you apply for, it's recommended that you choose one with a great sign-up bonus, one with travel rewards, one with a Visa Signature logo and one with the best benefits to suit your travel needs.
