Apply at for the US Airways Premier World MasterCard before it disappears!

The US Airways Premier World MasterCard, issued by Barclays and reached via, is one of our favorites in the world of travel.

We wrote about its advantages earlier this year. It has a solid sign-up bonus of 50,000 miles once you've paid your annual fee and made your first purchase. There's no need to spend thousands of dollars on purchases to get your bonus miles and that's a rarity in the credit card world.

The annual fee itself is a little pricey at $89 (not waived for the first year!), but the card is worth it for the sign-up bonus miles. The other current benefits for cardholders are pretty good too, especially if you use US Airways.

Currently, you can buy a companion certificate for up to two guests to travel with you on US Airways-operated flights at just $99 each plus taxes and fees. While tickets are limited to continental US or Canada, this can be a huge saving and is already worth paying the annual fee.

Your first eligible bag on a US domestic flight is checked free, plus up to four companions' bags are checked free too. Other advantages include free Priority boarding Zone 2 if your Dividend Miles number is in your reservation and a complimentary Club day pass valid for a one-time visit. Plus first class check-in is a sweet bonus to have.

As well as these travel perks, the card has another great draw. If you transfer your balances within 45 days of account opening, it's 0% introductory APR for 15 months, which is a nice length of time as most cards offer much less.

Now to some disheartening news. Due to the merger with American Airlines, the US Airways Premier World MasterCard will become the American Airlines AAdvantage MasterCard in 2015. While some new benefits will be introduced, certain existing benefits will not be available anymore and it's not good news for cardholders.

Current benefits that will be taken away:

– Annual $99 companion certificate
– Free annual Club lounge pass
– First Class check-in
– $75 discount off Club membership
– 5,000 mile rebate for award redemptions
– 10,000 Preferred Qualifying miles after $25,000 eligible spend

When transitions to AA, the new benefits will include:

– Additional redemption flexibility for one-way travel and first class upgrades
– 25% off in-flight purchases
– 10% discount on award redemptions
– Annual $100 flight discount after a $30,000 eligible spend

If you've been thinking about getting this card, now's the time to do it while you can take full advantage of its great current perks before it downgrades. It'll most likely be a good card in the future, but right now it's a great card, so apply now through
