You may already know this, but it's worth repeating. Ever since the Florida call center closed for the British Airways Executive Club I'm having trouble getting anyone to pick up the US number. It works using my cell phone but I'm traveling with Google Voice and Skype does not get it to pick up.
So my solution was to call the UK call center. Easy enough with Skype and I gave the agent my itinerary. She saw the same Alaska flights I had looked up on alaskaair.com.
I asked her to please book it and she asked for the credit card for the $5.60 in taxes.
I did not realize – BA usually asks for a $25 booking fee. You can usually get it waived but only after some back-and-forth for flights not available via ba.com. The agent did not even ask – no booking fee whatsoever.
I also previously booked JAL flights that did not come up online since the airport (Nagasaki) wasn't loaded at ba.com and no booking fee there either.
