How to use GiftCardMall to achieve your minimum spend

On Wednesday we highlighted how to buy American Express gift cards online to achieve your minimum spend.

Earlier this year we wrote about the option to buy $200 gift cards at Staples.com with no shipping fees (but with a $6.95 activation fee).

Now if you live in an area where all the stores have sworn to no longer sell gift cards for buyers using credit cards, there is another low-cost option with Gift Card Mall.

Here's how it works:

1) Register with TopCashback (if you haven't already done so):

2) Locate the GiftCardMall at TopCashback

TopCashback will give you 0.5% cashback on Visa gift card purchases – neat isn't it?

3) Select your desired card size at GiftCardMall

Always go for the $500 cards – everything else will just cost more money.

The cards are issued by MetaBank and work without any issues (may require activation though) at Walmart.

The GCM adds a $3.95 fee per $500 card and a $3.99 shipping fee per order. It will mention a $2 'security fee' per card but I have yet to be charged that extra.

4) Wait for your order

Shipping is usually slow so don't expect your order before one week has passed.

The Math

Say you are buying 6 x $500 cards, you will pay $27.69 in fees. But you are also receiving $15 in cashback – which brings the total to just under $13. If you buy gift cards in a store you will likely pay $5.95 per card or $35.70 for $3,000.

This greatly reduces your cost per mile.
