Citi Thankyou Points can now be transfered 1:1 to airline miles

This move had been anticipated for last summer and rumor ran wild last year but it took until 2014 to actually make this a reality.

Citi ThankYou points (most likely from your Citi ThankYou Premier card) can now be transferred on a 1:1 basis to the following airline loyalty programs:

– Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
– EVA Air Infinity MileageLands
– Etihad Guest
– Garuda Indonesia Frequent Flyer
– Qatar Airways Privilege Club
– Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
– Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus

This is great news since some of those mileage currencies were not easily accessible before. Plus the redemption options of Citi ThankYou points are so much more flexible now.

You may also transfer points to Hilton Honors for 1:1.5 points basis (not a good idea in most cases).

I detailed a number of Good Values in the Etihad Guest Award Chart recently. Now you can save your Starpoints and use Citi ThankYou points (this is nice especially for smaller points transfers).

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is a great way to book Singapore Airlines Business/First Class and there are some sweet spots in East Asia using Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer awards. The award rules offer a maximum of 6 legs and one free and multiple additional stop-overs at $100 each – Thanks Scott!

Scott will also show you how to use KrisFlyer miles for his innovative (yet complicated) stop-over add-on bookings.
