This is a review for two connecting flights I took on the same day.
They were on Aeroflot Regional Business Class on an A319 and A320. The Moscow-London route is served by Aeroflot 4x a week on an A330 with angled lie-flat seats, but sadly not on the day I flew.
While many businesses in Russia aren't known for their impeccable customer service, Aeroflot impresses in that department. On both these journeys the flight attendants (almost completely male on both flights) worked the cabin flawlessly and with a smile. Service was excellent and professional.
I tried out the food on both flights and it was good – not as great as on my outbound trip but still several times better than most US first class flights. The Bollinger champagne is excellent and the wine selection is lovely.
Only the Aeroflot A330 has angled lie-flat business class seats – the A319/A320 have a regular (wider) business class seats just like in domestic first class. They work well enough and are better than, say, Lufthansa's Regional Business Class, but aren't particularly great.
I was in seat 1A when arriving in Sheremetyevo for my connecting flight and of course got yelled at by an angry ground operations worker who saw my camera outside of my bag (I hadn't even taken a picture yet). Nice welcome to Russia 🙂
Business class passengers get into a Soviet-style business class bus when arriving at an apron gate and get a quicker transfer connection than economy passengers.
This trip, the additional security check was quick but equally rude. I made it to the lounge though 🙂
