Updates from the mistake fare battle – you can still go to Europe and Asia for $130

Sorry this deal has expired!

As of noon 5/23 the deal is still alive. Priceline.com has pulled the fares. Go to the Canadian site flightnetwork.com instead to book.

The incredible news – almost 30 hours after breaking the deal – the deal still stands and is bookable!

Many readers are asking questions – here is what I know…

Do you have more routing options?

JFK-NBO & PRG-PEK for $301.70

– IAH-TLV & PRG-NRT prices for abut $400 (maybe less)?

– LAX-AMM & CAI-PEK at ~$600

Some people also report success with Guam (GUM) and Victoria Falls (LVI) but I haven't been able to replicate this.

Dates are changing quickly as it gets booked up. So keep searching from November to April.

What is the best way to search?

At this point I'd say Priceline. But others report success with Hipmunk too.

Will there be miles?

The booking classes earn 100% on Delta Skymiles (and on Air France FlyingBlue after 12/31/2014). Delta Skymiles has a clause excluding all Priceline bookings from earning fares.

In my opinion this refers to opaque flights and NOT the flights we book (i.e. regular flights).

But I haven't booked anything on priceline.com ever.

We have to see how this unfolds.

Will the fare be honored?

99% yes. I would not be too worried, at least about the flights leaving the US.

Why is it available for so long?

That is a good question. It seems part of a long-standing fuel dump which seems harder to fix than it meets the eye (otherwise it would have been fixed a long time ago).

How to cover the sector TLV-PRG?

El Al recently created a low-cost airline that flies for about $100 to PRG. Alternatively, use 10,000 Avios to Berlin and take the bus to PRG (about 5 hours). Easyjet also flies the route (to SXF). Also AMM isn't far away and you get to see Jerusalem as well.
