If you have seen Hangover II, you may remember the impressive rooftop bar it features in Bangkok. You may not have expected it, but this bar actually exists, is in Bangkok and looks just like what you see in the movie.
The luxury Lebua Hotel at State Tower is located at the Chao Phraya River, close to Asiatique (don’t go there!) and the BTS Skytrain station. It’s located in busy Chinatown, so count on even more mad traffic in that area than you usually see in Bangkok.
The Sky Bar opens at 6PM and you need to wear ‘FULLY-ENCLOSED’ shoes. I went up to the 58th floor wearing Crocs and was promptly sent back. However, there are enough shops just in front of the hotel where you can get decent enough shoes 🙂
The sun usually sets right around 6PM, so on a clear day it’s a good idea to get there early to see the magnificent sunset. Bangkok comes out to shine at night and so does the rooftop bar. Drinks are around $10 – very reasonable, considering that great view.
