Copa Airlines has its hub in Panama City and I was hoping for a good lounge experience! Copa business class passengers and Star Alliance Gold Members get complimentary access.
It's not easy to find in the airport - one needs to find the food court first to enter the lounge.
When I saw 'in partnership' with United on the door - I realized nothing great will happen to me in the lounge.
The lounge has a nice view toward the apron. However the chairs and carpets belong to a different century and are pretty run down. There is a bar with attendant who is happy to serve basic alcoholic beverages. There was a selection of potato chips available as snacks. Also there was the usual selection of sodas as well.
I 'convinced' the lounge agent to give me access to the spa. I could not figure out what policy makes you eligible for showers but she mentioned you need to be 'in transit'.
The shower facilities were excellent - a spacious, well-designed shower. That's by far the best part of the lounge!
Also the WiFi was easy to access and it was rather speedy.
I guess that's the way many lounges are in the Americas nowadays - a place good enough to hang out in but certainly nothing to look forward to.
