Coming off of my previous post on Hyatt's new "Endless Possibilities" promotion, I've since learned that there's a great way to save nearly 20% off of all Hyatt stays within the US, Canada and the Caribbean. Although Hyatt has one of the smallest footprints out of all the major hotel chains, I've found my stays with them to be overwhelmingly good. So good in fact, that I've been a loyal diamond member (50 nights a year) for the past three years.
The combined discount marries a number of different promos and tactics that stack on each other. Firstly, you need to have an American Express Business credit card to take advantage of their American Express Open Savings program. This program allows the cardholder to receive a 5% cashback statement credit on all eligible Hyatt stays and the great news is that gift cards are also eligible for the cashback promotion.
Much and more have been written about the many business cards that AMEX puts out, but ironically, I think the best card in this case is the Starwood Business Credit Card. This allows you not only to receive the cash back but also diversify your treasure chest with some SPG points which many in the points and miles community value at 2 cents per mile. In this case, let's say that's an additional 2% rebate. This brings us up currently to roughly 7% saved.
On top of the 5% savings from AMEX Open and 2% from the Starpoints you are earning, Topcashback.com gives you a 3% rebate if you click through to their shopping portal before buying anything on Hyatt.com. As I mentioned in this article Topcashback.com is a great way to get cash back on items that you'd normally buy anyway and their rebates are usually some of the highest in the industry. So with that we have another 3% discount on the Hyatt stays totaling approximately 10% off.
In the next part of this series, I'll detail how you can get an additional 10% off of these gift cards.
