We got a recommendation from the Westin concierge for the Blue Elephant Restaurant and Cooking School which is housed in the former Phuket Town governors mansion. It's a very pretty 'colonial' style building in central Phuket. It even has a front lawn 🙂
You can take daily classes at the cooking school which were highly recommended to us. But we were more interested in getting a fabulous Thai dinner experience.
Dinner is served either a la carte or by choosing from two set menus. We went for the set menu and were presented a selection of starters, entrees and dessert.
We really liked the beef satay. It had a wonderful texture and taste.
Also the rice salad was really good.
We also enjoyed the dessert which tasted like a coconut based Creme Brulee.
We felt Blue Elephant is well worth the trip and it's a great way to try out a fantastic Thai kitchen and sample some variety. Prices are very decent.
We felt the entrees were good – just not extraordinarily so. But we felt the appetizers and desserts really made up for it..
Calling ahead for reservations is a good idea.
