Alaska Airlines publishes award chart for Emirates redemptions

Lucky flags the long awaited award chart for redemptions of Alaska Airlines miles for Emirates.

Ever since the start of the partnership I was hoping for another affordable option to finally fly Emirates more often.

It's not as good as I was hoping but not as bad as I feared. I think that's what Alaska Airlines was trying to achieve 🙂

Now there are just few ways of accumulating Alaska miles – the airline does not (anymore) operate a Shopping Mall and the credit card sign up bonus went down from 40k to 25k. While it's widely accepted that one can get the sign-up bonus several times in a row it still gets 7-8 sign ups until a first class ticket can be redeemed on Emirates. Alaska is a Transfer Partner for Starwood Points but there aren't too many other partners.

I think the Cathay Pacific award in First Class from the US to Africa (JNB) for 140k miles is still the best award option for Alaska and quite achievable.

Emirates also partners with Korean Airlines – here is the award chart:

The big advantage is that Korean Air is a Ultimate Rewards 1:1 partner and the UR mall has run a number of generous promotions plus Chase has offered a number of new credit cards.

Another alternative is JAL which is also a Starwood Transfer Partner:

I'm looking for a way to redeem a one-way award from SEZ to DXB and none of the programs above allows an easy way to do that. Emirates itself only offers one-ways at the Flex level (which is charged substantially more than at the Saver level). I'm also holding on to my stash of Starwood Points as they are very valuable for Cash&Points redemptions. So for now I will hold back on Emirates F although Lucky's report sounds very enticing.
