Nothing transports you back in time quite like Venice, a floating city carved from a hundred small islands within a lagoon. Wending your way down narrow alleyways or drifting along the Grand Canal is to step into another world – a medieval labyrinth frozen in the 13th century.

While many visitors see Venice from the main thoroughfares and tourist spots, the true magic lies in getting lost within its twisting backstreets. Lose yourself amid the calli and get the rare treat of stumbling upon hidden courtyards, squares and scenes of everyday Venetian life away from the crowds. Wander without purpose or direction and you may just find your way to a neighborhood trattoria filled with friendly locals. The romantic spontaneity of discovery is what gives Venice its timeless allure.

The roaming guanacos and circling condors seem right at home against this stark backdrop that humbles human hubris.
To complete the “W Trek”, hikers camp each night after long days spent trekking steep mountain passes, crossing suspension bridges and navigating rocky trails. Feeling Wanderlust? 10 Epic Destinations To Inspire Your Next Adventure - Appreciate Australia's Reefs and Rainforests in the Great Barrier Reef

Teeming with diverse marine life, tropical rainforests and iconic landscapes, Australia's Great Barrier Reef lives up to its reputation as one of Earth's most awe-inspiring natural wonders. Stretching over 1,400 miles along the Queensland coast, this vibrant World Heritage ecosystem dazzles visitors with its rich aquatic tapestry. Our clients consistently rank diving or snorkeling its kaleidoscopic reefs as a top travel highlight.

A few years back I had the privilege of witnessing this natural masterpiece firsthand. Setting out from Cairns aboard a liveaboard vessel, I eagerly awaited what lay below. Our guide's briefing mentioned over 2,900 reef systems sheltering everything from minuscule sea horses to lumbering green turtles. Yet nothing could have prepared me for the wonder that erupted when I submerged mask and snorkel.

Brilliantly hued coral formations stretched farther than landbound eyes could perceive. Clown fish fluttered around sea anemones in an animated Disney scene come to life. Angelfish drifted in ethereal clouds of sapphire and peach. And once skittish reef sharks slipped between these technicolor stands with an elegance that belied their power. The dizzying diversity affirmed what scientists confirm - over 1500 fish species call this underwater Eden home.

Beyond diversity, scale stunned most. One towering elkhorn coral colony helix spiraled some 20 meters skyward, impressing even our veteran divemaster. And nothing matched gliding over wall dives where sheer drops plunged into milky out of sight. The wall's resident batfish watched with googly eyes as we shrank in their perspective. Such immense vistas reinforced how our tiny bubbles intruded upon an immense living tapestry.
If reefs awed, inland rainforests equally intrigued. Hikes through Daintree National Park unveiled strange flora like prehistoric cycads and strangler figs that seemed relics of older eras. Bird calls echoed from unseen avian neighbors. And once a massive saltwater crocodile eyed us warily from his lily-strewn lagoon, an unwelcome reminder of our vulnerability in his domain.
