# Wyndham Tamarindo Review (or my favorite hotel in Costa Rica)

The Wyndham Tamarindo is located just behind Tamarindo Beach - however, the road leads along a steep hill. It is walkable but it is quite punishing (especially up after a long day at the beach). Driving to/from the beach is just a few minutes.

The first thing you notice is how beautiful the lobby area is and what amazing view the location offers. It is a quite stunning ocean view. In fact, every room has that same ocean view - there are no rooms looking away from the ocean!

Check-in was extremely easy - no passport copies and no back and forth with your credit cards. The hotel simply charges you upfront for your room rate - a few seconds later I had my room keys in my pocket.

The hotel is set away from any road which makes it extremely quiet - you mostly hear birds and crickets during your stay.

The room itself is rather simple - but most rooms (not all oddly) come with great showers and lots of shower pressure. The WiFi was extremely fast at 100 MBit - that was true for both upload and download. Imagine being able to upload a YouTube movie in real-time :)

The air conditioning was a small unit with a remote that you see in many hotels - however, on the low setting, it was completely inaudible and effective.

The mattress equipped by the hotel seemed hard - perfect for me. However, the quality of the linen and the cover was not great. It seemed the bed cover hadn't been washed in a long time (which triggered my allergies).

Most rates come with free breakfast which is decent and includes a number of hot entrees. The biggest treat is the garden that allows you to see the same view as from your room. There is also a beautiful infinity pool on the same level.

The staff is largely absent and given this is a 3 Star rating it is what you'd expect.

In sum - the Wyndham Tamarindo is a property that did not make me expect much. However, the great location (if you have a car!), the superbly fast WiFi, the beautiful views, the simple but efficient rooms really make this hotel shine!

The room rates at $70 make this property also a great deal.
