Back in June, Alaska Airlines launched an interesting promotion for Mileage Plan members. The promotion was supposed to end on December 31, 2020. However, Alaska Airlines just announced that the promotion will be extended by six months until June 30, 2021. During the promotional period, members can earn 50% more Elite Qualifying Miles or EQM. Keep in mind that the bonus will only apply to flights operated by Alaska Airlines. No registration is required for this promotion. All active Mileage Plan members will receive a 50% bonus on elite-qualifying miles earned on flights marketed and operated by Alaska Airlines between June 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021.

From the official website:
Get on the fast track to elite status. You've probably already heard that the status you're holding at the end of 2020, will be extended through 2021. But we know that some of you are trying to get elite status for the first time, or are trying to get to the next tier — so we're making it easier for you to get there with bonus EQMs on flights through the end of the year.

Alaska Airlines Will Join Oneworld in March

In July oneworld alliance finally made an official announcement that Alaska Airlines was in the process of joining the alliance, but no official date was given at the time. Alaska Airlines has announced that the airline will join the alliance on March 31, 2021. This will make Alaska Airlines the alliance's 14th airline. Alaska Airlines already codeshares with members of the oneworld alliance like American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and more. The joining of Alaska Airlines will add 34 new destinations to the oneworld network, across North America.
