Where Should You Travel This Summer

Many airlines are introducing perks for passengers that have flights booked and are unable to fly. However, the good news is that many airlines are also trying to encourage new bookings by allowing no fee changes and some offer free cancellations on future travel, which is a really good thing. Most of the European countries will be opening their doors for passengers starting June 15, 2020, with some highly popular summer destinations among them.

Greece is in the process of opening up its borders for the summer season. With many beautiful island destinations, this is a great location for a summer holiday! For now, only passengers from select countries will be allowed entrance for the first wave of tourists. However, this list will probably be further expanded in July and August. Keep in mind that if you arriving via a direct flight you could be subjected to a random COVID-19 test.

Passengers from following countries will be allowed entrance starting June 15, 2020: Albania, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, and Switzerland.

Spain will open its borders to members of the EU’s Schengen Zone and the UK on June 21. Passengers from other, non-Schengen countries will be allowed into the country without the obligation to self-quarantine starting July 1.

Portugal was one of the first countries to welcome back visitors from other parts of Europe. Starting June 15, they will also resume some of their international flights.

United Kingdom

The UK never closed down its borders for international travel. However, on June 8 they implemented a rule that requires visitors to quarantine for 14 days with the exception of those traveling from Ireland, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man.

Croatia started slowly reopening for tourists in May, with passengers from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Germany, and Slovakia being allowed entrance. Like many European countries, starting June 15, the country will open its doors to passengers from the EU and the UK. There will also be no quarantine requirement.

Cyprus implemented a rather interesting travel policy for tourists visiting this summer. The country will cover health costs in case of coronavirus contamination occurring during your stay on the island. However, a health certificate and a negative test result will be required. You can also get tested when you arrive at a fee of €60.

Passengers can travel to Montenegro without quarantine, as long as they are arriving from countries with a rate of transmission below 25 per 100,000 inhabitants. They are updating this list daily and you can find it here.

French Polynesia

French Polynesia will be reopening for international arrivals starting July 15, 2020. There will also be no requirement for self-isolation. Passengers will be required to take a COVID-19 test 72 hours before departure and show a negative test on arrival.
