The InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) has just opened its latest property, the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort, on the 1st of September 2019. Situated on the picturesque Maamunagau Island, at the southern tip of Raa Atoll, the InterContinental Maldives is surrounded by a stunning natural lagoon in the Indian Ocean.

This new resort sits in one of the must-visited archipelagos in the world. It is rich with emerald-blue waters, beautiful sunset views and fine white sand.

Maamunagau Resort

The Maamunagau resort is a once in a lifetime luxury experience. For those seeking a quiet and private getaway, there’s nothing quite like the private beaches, lagoon and overwater villas and residences. Each of the lavish living has an unparalleled view of the ocean, including a private terrace and pool. The hotel’s signature AVI Spa that is set in overwater hut-like pods is also a short walk away.

“Escape and reconnect with nature, yourself and those who matter most in the sweeping blue panoramics of the Indian Ocean. With soft white sands and palm tree peppered terraces, be mesmerized by island life from the moment you board the seaplane to the tranquil shores of the Raa Atoll. Nestled close to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, prepare to be amazed by the myriad of marine life in our lagoon including a unique manta ray sanctuary.” IHG said on its website.

IHG has introduced its first and only All-Club InterContinental experience at the InterContinental Maldives. This involves surprising patrons with thoughtful, exclusive benefits throughout the island. For example a complimentary gourmet treat. The resort has six restaurants, a private bar and on the edge of the water – infinity pool!

Raa Atoll

Raa Atoll harbors globally significant biodiversity. That includes significant concentrations of whale sharks and manta rays and also a unique diversity of fauna. Raa Atoll has a high density of the ring-shaped reef forms called Faroes. Faroes is a peculiar reef structure unique to the Maldives, as well as other unique reef forms. This makes it extremely popular with divers!
