Radisson adds Phu Quoc resort, Alaska Mileage plan for Finnair flights, more love from Hong Kong Airlines, Ethiopian signs yet another hub, Icelandic airlines in trouble?

– the resort boom in Vietnam continues with the Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc now open for visitors

– Alaska Mileage Plan now allows award bookings on Finnair

The airline is using their Alaska Airlines ‘feed’ in San Francisco and Los Angeles to fill their new flights (A350 soon for LAX). Alaska Mileage Plan has precious few options for West Coast flier (easily the majority) to get to Europe with low fuel surcharges.

70,000 Miles for a One-Way Business Class ward isn’t cheap but it’s still better than paying the outrageous British Airways fuel surcharges for a very mediocre product.

– Hong Kong Airlines is getting a lot of good rep since their decision to honor the $561 Round Trip mistake fare (we reported right when it became bookable to our subscribers).

– similar to the deal Ethiopian has struck in many African countries a Lusaka hub is now in the works

You gotta wonder how many hubs an airline can have – Ethiopian’s list is now almost a dozen countries in Africa. Crazy!

– the incredibly quick expansion by WOW air and the competitive moves by Icelandair have taken their toll in quarterly losses (and a beaten up balance sheet)
