Orbitz suffers massive data breach, new Iberia 11,000 RT redemptions, Ryanair ‘takes over’ Laudamotion, Delta adds 72h advance window for more reservations

– Orbitz suffered a data breach and as many as 880,000 customer details including credit cards may have been compromised

It is unclear what damage exactly has been done – watch out a little more careful for fraudulent transactions on credit cards that you used at Orbitz before. Also watch out for Orbucks redemptions that may not be done by yourself.

– Iberia has an interesting award chart for American Airlines that allows Round Trip redemptions from 11,000 Avios

Iberia Avios redemptions work only as Round Trip (on American Airlines and connections are not priced separately. The online booking engine is finicky and the phone agents often barely understand English.

However it is possible to transfer into Iberia Avios from Chase Ultimate Rewards and you can also swap your Avios from Executive Club (with certain restrictions).

– just after taking over the Air Berlin assets in Vienna Niki Lauda is now getting RyanAir as a major investor – this likely wasn’t a new deal

– Delta now requires a three day advance for any award reservations departing from outside the US (Alaska is doing that for certain partners as well)

This seems to become the new ‘standard’. I tried to ticket a partner reservation with AAdvantage for the next day and it was a mess. These three day rules may make live easier for everyone.
