Flights on their new A350 from Paris to San Francisco can be had at $160 one-way (no bags or miles) which is inline with LEVEL and Norwegian who run to Europe from the SF Bay Area.
More interesting is the service to Tahiti and it prices at the same level around $160 one-way. However you can only book flights from Papeete to the US (Round Trip or One-way) I couldn’t find a way to book a Round Trip or Oneway from San Francisco.
To get to Tahiti you can use United’s new service or buy a cheap ticket to Honolulu and redeem 27,500 Hawaiian Miles (AMEX Membership Rewards 1:1) Partner and return with French Bree. Tahiti can easily have a few more visitors!
– United is sending out emails with the 50,000 bonus Mileage Plus Explorer card
The annual fee is waived and this is a great offer if you are on good terms with the Chase gods (i.e. are under 5/24).
Sometimes I feel loyalty programs only exist to ‘push’ credit cards. The $250 referral fee (my estimate) multiplied by 100 million emails they are sending and a response rate of 0.05% (my estimate) make this one email newsletter a $10+ million windfall for United Mileage Plus – amazing!
