What’s the scoop on calling the Amtrak number to enroll for Guest Rewards?
New members in the US and Canada can earn 500 bonus points just for enrolling in the loyalty program Amtrak Guest Rewards and taking at least one paid trip within the first 90 days – and you can then start earning online for referring your friends, too!
You’ll earn 500 bonus points for each new member you refer, for up to 50 referral bonuses in the lifetime of your membership. You get the 500 points once each friend has joined and taken a paid trip within 90 days.
What’s the Amtrak number to call?
Call 1-800-307-5000 to enroll in Guest Rewards; you’ll need to give the agent your full name, address, telephone number and email address.
How do I enroll online with Amtrak Guest Rewards and start referring?
If you prefer, you can join online here instead and you’ll still earn the bonus points.
Once you’re a member, you can then easily refer your friends online:
- Log in to your account at AmtrakGuestRewards.com
- Go to your ‘My Account’ page and click on ‘My Promotions’
- Look for the ‘Refer-A-Friend’ link
- Add the email address of the friend you are referring
Tell me a little more about Amtrak Guest Rewards…
We introduced you to the different ways you can earn and redeem Amtrak Guest Rewards here in 2014, but last year the program went revenue-based, so there were some changes made. You can now earn 2 points per dollar spent on Amtrak travel, though business class travel earns 25% more and Acela First trips earn 50% more.
One of the better ways to earn a pile of points in one go is with the Amtrak Guest Rewards World MasterCard. This credit card is currently offering 20,000 bonus points – worth up to $580! – when you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days. You can read about how the bonus points can be worth several hundred dollars in train travel in our post here.
Free Amtrak trips start at just 800 points, so once you’ve joined and successfully referred one person, you already have enough for a free trip!
You don’t just have to redeem you points for travel – you can also shop or dine with them or donate them to a good cause. However, redeeming for travel is generally the better deal, especially when redeemed for Amtrak travel of course, though you can also redeem for Choice, Hilton or Starwood hotel stays, Disney or Princess cruises or Hertz car rentals.
