The Courtyard Los Angeles L.A. LIVE isn't your typical suburbia cookie-cutter building - it is a rather stylish high-rise with lots of LED lights inside out. It feels and is very modern.
Check-in was super-friendly and we got a room on the 14th floor. The room wasn't the biggest but was very functional and I loved how modern everything looked.
The view over Los Angeles was hazy but should be lovely on a clear day.
The bed was moderately hard and the shower worked well.
Everything was in great shape and the whole interior was seemingly built to last. Plus the hotel internet was fast at 10Mbit and free for guests.
Valet parking is available here at $35 per night. I used the 'BestParking app' and found garage parking just a few blocks away for $15 for 24 hours - a much better deal.
The Courtyard usually charges rates around $250-$300 for most weekdays, which is crazy high! If you can find it for around $100-$150, this is a great deal for a modern, lovely hotel with friendly staff.
Downtown LA is neither particularly nice nor safe, so keep your wits about you when walking around town after dark. There is a lot of new building activity and this will certainly change the nature of Downtown LA soon.
