– United has it’s own ‘Spirit Moment’ with the introduction of United Basic Economy fares that DO NOT allow carry-on bags

The exact process is still fuzzy but United plans to board Basic Economy through boarding group 5. If you are in those late boarding groups overhead space is full anyways (right now). However instead of a free bag check you will have to pay a fee. It’s not yet sure what this will be. Elite members (including Star Alliance Gold) will be exempt as they board in an earlier group (vene when on a United Basic Economy ticket).
I understand the temptation to provide investors with a new revenue opportunity but no carry-on bags for a full service carrier is ridiculous.
– American Express is running a 25% bonus promotion when you transfer to Iberia Plus
Since Iberia Plus and British Airways Executive Club Avios can be exchanged on a 1:1 basis (there is apparently no limit for transfers) this is essentially a promo for BA Avios as well. There are a few restrictions and both programs have similar redemption rates anyways (just the fuel surcharges vary randomly).
– Citi ThankYou Points can be transferred to Hilton at a 1:2 ratio for a limited time – this is a good promo if you are booking (otherwise expensive) Category 1 and 2 hotels
