## What's an Avis Discount Code?

This car rental company assigns an 'Avis Worldwide Discount' number (otherwise known as an AWD) so that certain customers can get specific discounts. An AWD can be negotiated for a business's employees (as well as for other [Avis](http://www.avis.com) partners), and with regards corporate rates, with Avis they may often be cheaper than public ones. If your organization is affiliated with this car rental company, you may be able to save on your advance rental by adding the relevant corporate discount number to your booking.

Employees may also get members-only promotions and special rental benefits when using a particular Avis corporate discount code:

An Avis Worldwide Discount number is always alphanumeric, in the sequence of one letter and then six (or occasionally seven) numbers. There doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list of codes online, so we scoured the internet to find as many as possible, to see how much you can save.

As expected, you can only generally use a corporate discount number with Avis if you have ID to prove that you're entitled to the rate when picking up your rental, or you could be charged the full daily rate.

## How do I use an Avis Discount Code?

From the homepage, when you click on 'Enter your pick-up location', more options are then displayed, including a place where you can enter a discount code. Click on 'Discount Codes' and where it says 'Enter a Discount Code', enter your code in the 'AWD#' box:

## Testing the Avis Discount Code list...

For our tests, we chose a rental picking up at and returning to McCarran International Airport, January 16th to 19th, 2017. The total price for a Compact, without using a code and including taxes and fees, worked out at $161.48 when paying now.

However, we'll be comparing rates before taxes and fees, which was $126 when you pay later or **$107.10 **when you pay now:

Using these codes gave us the same price as not using a code:

So while most discount codes worked out more expensive, the average saving when we did get a discount was just **5% off**. Only Costco and Sears gave us more than a 5% discount, at **13% off** and **10% off** respectively.

## What else do I need to know about using an Avis Discount Code?

In this instance, it seems that using an Avis Worldwide Discount number may save you money off your rental but may actually cost you more, although it may well depend on the rental location, dates and, of course, the code you use. It's always best to compare costs, so try a booking with and also without your company's corporate code added.

If you can't find your code, you could ask HR if there is an account number for you to use with Avis or contact Avis directly. Maybe your company's code will save you a bundle!
