Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi Review
The Hilton Garden Inn is located just south of Hoan Kiem – the center of attention in Hanoi. It’s about a 5-minute walk to the south shore.
I had booked using the app (with the current VISA promotion) and rates were just $57 plus tax for a weekday stay.
At check-in there must have been 10 front desk agents waiting for anything to do. I was happily greeted, but it took three agents a while to get me checked in. I was upgraded to a suite without asking 🙂
The suite indeed looked fantastic and since the hotel is brand new it was in excellent shape. The bed was superb with a great duvet and firm mattress.
The suite had two bathrooms. I wasn’t too happy with the rain shower though, as it was impossible to control the temperature before you entered the shower. That was a cold awakening!
The internet was really slow and I gave up explaining what ‘Premium Internet’ means after a few minutes. The level of English at the front desk was minimal.
The breakfast was on par with many Hilton properties; it’s usually terrible and so was this, with the exception of a few items. Since Hilton basically gives it away, it’s done incredibly cheap.
There was a complimentary (!) self-service laundry right next to my suite. The washer was very audible which wasn’t great, but I was able to get my laundry done easily.
The hotel is a great deal for a brand new Hilton property. It really needs to work on faster internet to make me come back, though.
