What are Carlson Travel Agent Rates?

Like other major hotel brands and travel providers, Carlson is known for offering preferred lower rates to travel professionals, either for the agents to use for personal stays or so they can book on behalf of clients.

The Carlson Look To Book site does more than just offer a discount, however. In addition to a travel agent discount of 50% off room rates at Carlson Rezidor hotels, agents receive commission and earn Look To Book points. Look To Book points can be redeemed for free hotel nights, airline miles or prepaid cards. You can earn bonus points every month simply by learning more about the brand with the QuizBook training program.

You’ll need your own personal IATA, TRUE, TIDS or CLIA number to utilize the site. Additionally, to be eligible you’ll need to reside in one of these countries:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland

How do I use Carlson Travel Agent Rates?

You can directly access the site here and join Look To Book by providing your travel agent number and email address.

To search availability of discounted rates of your preferred Carlson hotel brand, you don’t need to be logged in and can just use the TVLAGENT promotional code. Add TVLAGENT to the ‘Promotional Code’ box rather than to the ‘Travel Agency ID’ box.

We checked the cost of a one-night stay at the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Montgomery at Chantilly Parkway in Alabama on March 13th, 2017, and the Flexible Rate came up at $107 before tax for non-members or $96 before tax for Club Carlson members:

Simply adding the TVLAGENT code to the reservation gave us the cheaper rate of $53, which is nearly 50% off the Flexible Rate ($43 off / 45% off the member rate):

When booking with the TVLAGENT code, the T&C clearly state that this rate is for travel agent employees on personal travel only and that the agent’s IATA number must be included on the reservation. Your official ID or a letter from your manager on company letterhead paper must be presented at the time of check-in. In addition, this rate is not eligible for Gold Points, Look To Book points or miles.

What else do I need to know about Carlson Travel Agent Rates?

In this case, it seems that travel agents can certainly save a bundle on personal stays when using the TVLAGENT code and may well be able to save their clients money too when booking through Look To Book. We’re unable to check the latter unfortunately.

If you’re eligible, it’s always worth checking both Look To Book and the main Carlson site to compare rates before booking, just in case your chosen property is discounted on your chosen dates.
