## What's a Hertz Discount Code?

 [Hertz](http://www.hertz.com) uses the 'CDP' (counter discount program) to offer corporate reductions that tend to be cheaper than public rates. If your organization is affiliated with Hertz, you can save on your advance rental by adding the relevant CDP to your booking and it can even be stacked with a 'PC' (promotional coupon) and/or 'RQ' (rate code). Major businesses, credit card companies and travel club discount programs, from American Express to Marriott to Virgin Atlantic, not only give you cheaper rates with a particular CDP code, but also add special features such as the underage fee waived or insurance included.A CDP is usually a numerical code between 1 and 10 digits long. There doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list of codes online, so we scoured the internet to find as many as possible, to see how much you can save. If you can't find your code here, you could ask HR if there is a CDP for you to use with Hertz or contact Hertz directly.

As expected, you can only generally use a corporate CDP if you have ID to prove you're entitled to the rate when picking up your rental, or you could be charged the full daily rate.

## How do I use a Hertz Discount Code?

During your reservation, under 'Rental Car Type', tick the box that says 'Enter a Discount or Promo Code' and then enter the code in the 'Discount/CDP/Club Code' box:

For our tests, we chose a rental picking up at and returning to Denver International, December 12th to 15th, 2016. The guest price for a Group B Compact without a CDP code came up as **$51 per day **($209.30 approximate total) if you pay later or **$40.80 per day** ($170.49 approximate total) if you pay now:

With each of these, the rate is guaranteed and includes unlimited free miles.

In this sample test, most companies come up as a rate of $36.72 pay now when you use the CDP, which is only a few dollars difference, although the cheapest price with a CDP came up as $32.64 for Amex Platinum and Centurion. For pay later, Mousesavers Inc. was the clear winner at $37.50 per day. While most give you a discount, some organizations even come up as the same rate as booking without a code.
