Edinburgh is a busy hotel market in summer, so I was happy to have found a good rate for the Radisson Blu Hotel Edinburgh in the middle of the old town. In fact, the hotel is just two blocks away from Edinburgh Castle, which attracts millions of tourists every year.
Check-in was friendly and fast; in less than a minute, I got my keys and was whisked off to my room. The hotel looks old from the outside, but seems bigger and brand new from the inside. This Doctor Who effect can’t be a coincidence!
The room was in a lovely state – a huge, well-appointed room with a cozy bed and strong AC.
The internet came in at 10Mbit – the exact speed I consider fast enough!
I asked the One Touch service to make the bed more firm and – voila – after I returned from some exploring, it was much more to my liking!
After a good night’s rest, I had breakfast (open until 11.30) and used the gym. The options at breakfast resembled exactly the same foods as in other Radisson Blu hotels, but seemed a bit higher quality. The gym is small but well-equipped and there is a pool and jacuzzi as well ( which I did not use).
Outside of the hotel the streets are packed with tourists and street artists, but inside you would never know. It’s quiet, feels luxurious and the staff do everything to make your stay pleasant. I’d happily return.
