The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard®

This Citi MasterCard is one of our favorite travel rewards credit cards. Read on to see how you can earn 60,000 bonus AAdvantage miles with the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard® credit card and what you can do with this bounty in the world of travel.

The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard® – The Offer

The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard® credit card is currently offering a generous bonus of 60,000 miles when you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first three months of cardmembership. 60k miles is worth $900 in travel!

Citi® / AAdvantage®

Past offers have included a higher points bonus for a higher minimum spend, such as 75,000 miles when you spend $7,500. Even though you earn fewer AAdvantage miles with the current offer, it’s comparatively a better offer if you think in terms of spend for miles.

Don’t be put off by the $450 annual fee (which also isn’t waived in the first year), as the bonus miles and travel benefits make up for this, especially if you are an AAdvantage frequent flyer member. In addition to the bonus miles you that earn when you sign up, the benefits to owning this great card include:

Citi® / AAdvantage®

  • Complimentary Admiral Club membership for you to access more than 50 global lounges.
  • NEW! Complimentary Admirals Club lounge access for authorized users, even without you there.
  • NEW! Reimbursement by statement credit for your Global Entry or TSA Pre✓ application fee (up to $100, once every 5 years).
  • First checked bag free for you and eight (eight!) travel companions on domestic itineraries.
  • Priority check-in, airport screening and early boarding.
  • 25% in-flight savings on eligible AA purchases.
  • No foreign transaction fees to pay when abroad.

With this card, you earn 2x miles for every dollar you spend on eligible AA purchases and 1x miles for every dollar spent elsewhere. Plus if you spend $40,000 on purchases (that post to your January through December billing statements) annually, you earn 10,000 Elite Qualifying Miles from American Airlines.

60,000 bonus miles – What you could use them for

Once you’ve spent $5,000 on your card to earn the bonus, you will actually have earned at least 65,000 AAdvantage miles (70,000 if you spent the $5,000 just on eligible AA purchases). AAdvantage MileSAAver awards start at just 7,500 miles each way, although you’ll have to pay any applicable taxes and carrier-imposed fees.

Using the current AA award chart, you could fly in the main cabin from one of the contiguous 48 US states to Canada, Alaska, Mexico or Central America for 30,000 miles round-trip – so your bonus miles would get you two return tickets. Alternatively, you could fly to Europe for 60,000 miles round-trip:

If you prefer to use your bonus miles to travel in style, you could book a MileSAAver business class award to South America (Region 1, which includes Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Manaus in Brazil) for 60,000 AAdvantage round-trip:

Or how about using 65,000 miles to travel first class one-way to Hawaii?

How can I complete the minimum spend?

Put all your regular spend on it and read our guide to manufactured spending. $5,000 in 3 months should be really easy!

What if my application was denied?

Did you know that almost all our applications get initially denied and eventually approved when calling the right reconsideration numbers?
