The Hotel Intercity Premium Manaus hotel is located just south of Adrianópolis – seemingly Manaus’ best neighborhood. It’s shockingly cheap with rates just $35 per night. So what do you get for $35 in Manaus?
In fact you get a pretty awesome hotel for it!
I checked-in early (around noon) and the front desk agent was not only prepared for my arrival (not 20 minute search for my reservation) but my room was ready as well. I just needed to provide a signature (not even my credit card information was required) and 30 seconds later I was in my room. Incredible especially for bureaucratic Brazil!
The room looked fantastic – a large room with a big bed and clean spacious bathroom. The shower pressure was great. The Internet was working at 5 Mbit throughout my stay and while the AC did not have a lot of capacity it would cool down the room quietly in just about 10 minutes. The mattress was perfect – not to hard or soft. The duvet could have been better though.
There is a swimming pool and gym at the top floor – it also offers some great views over the old town. The breakfast in the morning had a number of good items and even decent (drip) coffee. I was amazed!
The hotel also provided very helpful tips on the river tour the following day.
This is a great hotel in my book. Its modern, everything works as expected and it even has a bit of a soul. The staff are engaged and don’t just chat between each other while ignoring guests and they actually speak a few words of English! Where do they find these people?!
The only drawback is the immediate location which has a lot of traffic and isn’t the safest. 10 -15 minute walk during the day (it’s safe enough) give you access to Manauara Shopping and the Segnora Gracra neighborhood which has a number of decent food and drinks options.
